Job Opportunity: RN Emergency Room

Location: Mequon, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Provide care for Emergency Department (ED) patients.
  • May be assigned to care for boarded patients in the ED.
  • Use EPIC electronic health record system.
  • Must have at least 2 years of Emergency Department experience.
  • May need to float onsite within skill set or to other sites within 40 miles as needed.

Required Qualifications

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Emergency Department nursing.
  • No prior travel experience explicitly required.

Licensure

  • Current, valid RN license in Wisconsin (Nursys verification required within 30 days prior to start).

Certifications

  • BLS (AHA)
  • ACLS (AHA)
  • PALS (AHA)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course), renewed every 4 years
  • NIH Certification (Group A yearly, Groups B-F every 2 years)
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MOAB) or Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training (8-hour course, updated every 2 years)

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • MMR: Documented proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted).
  • Varicella: Documented proof of two vaccines, serological immunity, or verified history (no declinations accepted).
  • Hepatitis B: Vaccination series completion or signed declination.
  • Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement.
  • Tdap: Valid within 10 years, no declinations accepted.
  • TB Screening: 2-step PPD or IGRA within required timeframes; if positive, negative chest X-ray and annual TB questionnaire required.
  • Fit Test: Required for all travelers; preferred before start, can be completed onsite.

Background and Screening

  • Ascension Criminal Background Check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry, and others within 30 days prior to start.
  • 12 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter.
  • Employment and education verifications within 90 days prior to start.

Skills and Competency Assessments

  • Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical skills, updated annually).
  • Ascension Specialty Exam (minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years).
  • Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA, etc., updated every 3 years).
  • Ascension EKG Exam (minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years).
  • Ascension Color Vision Test (updated every 3 years).
  • Epic Test-Out and Training Checklist with signed attestation prior to assignment.

Additional Requirements

  • Health Statement or completed physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually.
  • Driver’s License or State ID (must not be expired and address must comply with licensing rules).
  • Professional references and signed assignment agreement required.
  • Badge photo (headshot with white or blue background, no filters).
  • Completion of onboarding modules and attestations as required by the facility.

This is a 13-week long-term assignment for an experienced Emergency Room RN in Wisconsin.
