Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (Travel)

Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Contract Length: 12 weeks

Job Summary

• Provide evaluation and care for patients with respiratory insufficiencies.
• Assess patients for appropriate treatment types and frequencies; develop and implement care plans.
• Monitor patient condition and respiratory equipment; perform advanced respiratory care modalities.
• Evaluate respiratory practices and medication administration based on patient outcomes.
• Educate patients and families about health conditions and available community support.
• Respond to emergency resuscitation team codes.

• Follow standard precautions and use personal protective equipment as required.

Required Qualifications

Licensure / Certification

• BLS Provider (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted)
• Respiratory Care Practitioner credential from the Indiana Respiratory Care Committee
• Registered Respiratory Therapist credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)

Preferred Certifications

• Advanced Life Support (AHA or Red Cross accepted)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) (AHA or Red Cross accepted)

Education & Experience

• High School diploma or equivalent with 2 years cumulative experience, OR
• Associate's or Technical degree, OR
• 4 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience

Specialty Experience

• Minimum 4 years of experience in Respiratory Therapy (based on education/experience equivalency)

Prior Travel Experience

• No explicit prior travel experience required

Required Onboarding & Compliance

• Completion of facility-specific Respiratory Therapy Contract Worker Onboarding and Education Attestation
• Core competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA, and specialty-specific knowledge (updated every 3 years)
• Skills checklist for respiratory therapy (updated annually)
• Criminal background check, employment verification, and professional references
• Drug screening (12 panel) within 30 days prior to start, updated annually
• Verification of education and licensure
• Health and immunization requirements including:

  • MMR (2 vaccines or positive titer, no declinations)
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or declination documentation
  • Influenza vaccine (seasonal, exemptions require mask)
  • Varicella immunity or vaccination (no declinations)
  • Tdap vaccine (valid for 10 years, no declinations)
  • TB testing (2-step PPD or IGRA, chest X-ray if positive)
  • Fit test for respiratory protection (annual)
  • Health statement or physical exam (updated annually)
• Valid Driver’s License or State ID (must meet state-specific requirements)
• Badge photo (white or blue background, no alterations)
