Job Opportunity: RN Emergency Room

Location: Wichita, Kansas
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work in a high-volume Emergency Department with a significant number of behavioral health patients.
  • Uniform: Ceil blue scrubs.
  • Schedule includes every other weekend.
  • No on-call responsibilities.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Kansas
  • Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) or MOAB (Management of Aggressive Behavior) certification

Onboarding and Testing Requirements

  • Completion of specialty competency exams with a minimum passing score of 80%, updated every 3 years.
  • Cerner test-out and training checklist required prior to onboarding.
  • Ascension Core Competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission, NPSG, OSHA topics, with minimum passing score of 80%, updated every 3 years.
  • Ascension EKG Exam with passing score of at least 80%, updated every 3 years.
  • Unit-specific checklist (optional for onboarding).
  • Completion of onboarding education attestations and modules prior to clearance.
  • Badge photo required (forward-facing headshot with white or blue background, no alterations).

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Documentation of immunizations and health screenings including:
    • MMR (two vaccines or positive titer; no declinations accepted)
    • Varicella (two vaccines, serological evidence, or verified history; no declinations accepted)
    • Tdap (valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted)
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination
    • Influenza vaccine (optional; mask required if declined during flu season)
    • 2-Step PPD or IGRA testing for TB, with chest X-ray if positive, updated annually
    • Fit test for respiratory protection, updated annually
    • Positive PPD requires negative chest X-ray and annual TB questionnaire
    • Health statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
    • 12-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start, updated annually

Documentation and Verification

  • Professional resume/profile required for submission.
  • At least two professional references required.
  • Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry, and others within 30 days of assignment start.
  • Employment verification for the past seven years.
  • Education verification relevant to clinical work within 90 days of start.
  • Confirmation of assignment documentation upon initial assignment and each extension.
  • Driver’s license or state ID (must be current and match address on file).

Additional Notes

  • No call responsibilities.
  • Every other weekend schedule.
  • High behavioral health patient volume in the ED.
  • Uniform color specified as ceil blue scrubs.
