Role Summary

Provides nursing care for medically complex patients who need close monitoring, frequent assessment, telemetry, and specialized interventions in a step-down/progressive care setting.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Indiana
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
• 1 year of PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• NIHSS
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Driver's License
• Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start
• Current license and primary source verification within 30 days prior to start
• At least two professional references
• Resume or profile
• Driver’s license or state ID
• Education verification relevant to clinical work
• Employment verification for the past seven years

Clinical Responsibilities

• Provide direct care for medically complex patients requiring telemetry, frequent monitoring, and specialized interventions
• Perform comprehensive assessments of respiratory, cardiovascular, neurological, and hemodynamic status
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, vital signs, and laboratory results
• Administer medications safely, including IV medications
• Manage telemetry monitoring, IV drips, central lines, PICC lines, oxygen therapy, high-flow oxygen, CPAP/BiPAP
• Implement and evaluate individualized care plans
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, case management, and other disciplines
• Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment plan, medications, and discharge instructions
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the EMR
• Recognize early signs of deterioration and escalate care as needed
• Follow infection prevention, fall precautions, and patient safety standards
