Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) - Temp Position

Location: St. Charles, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days
Hours per Day: 8

Job Description

• Assist physical therapists in treating patients of all ages, from newborns to end-of-life care.
• Help patients stretch and exercise specific muscle groups.
• Follow instructions and collaborate directly with physical therapists to modify care plans as needed.
• Communicate with families to recommend effective at-home techniques.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of physical therapy areas.
• Assist patients in moving from wheelchairs or walkers to therapy areas.
• Complete administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and filing paperwork.
• Teach patients techniques including balance training.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA).
• Active PTA license (must be valid and compact if applicable).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA), active at the time of start.
• Experience in Long-Term Care (LTC) or Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) settings.

Additional Information

• Candidates must submit a resume, skills checklist (within 1 year), and 0-1 references at time of submission.
• Certifications must be current and AHA-approved.
• License must be active in Ohio or a compact state at submission.
• Prior travel experience is not specified as required.

• The role supports rehabilitation in a long-term care setting, including post-stroke rehab, orthopedics, joint replacements, amputees, neurological conditions, wound care, swallow dysfunction, cognitive therapy, pulmonary programs, balance enhancement, fall prevention, home evaluations, and family training.
