Oncology Registered Nurse
Overview
- Travel/contract role in Saint Louis, Missouri
- 12-week assignment
- Night shift: 4x9s, 10:00 PM–7:30 AM
- 36 hours per week
- First-time travelers accepted
- Floating within scope may be required
- No block scheduling
- Local candidates are not accepted
- Home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility
- Pending license accepted
- Guaranteed hours provided
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Missouri
- Oncology (1 year of experience)
- Oncology experience within the last year
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Two professional references
- Unit-specific skills checklist within 1 year of start
- Employment application

- Drug screening within 1 year of start
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit testing
- TB screening
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season

Schedule Expectations
- 4 weekend shifts per contract
- RTO limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract
Unit Details
- Oncology outpatient department with 8 treatment chairs
- 7 private rooms/beds for isolation patients and provider evaluations
- Provider on site 24/7
- Patients may be held in the department for more than 24 hours awaiting an inpatient bed
- Overnight work includes finishing infusion treatments and managing evaluations

- Chemotherapy and biotherapy

- Electrolyte replacement

- Port access and care
- Central line care and blood draws
- PICC line care

- Infusion pump management
- Medication administration including antibiotics, antivirals, antifungals, corticosteroids, antiemetics, Neupogen, coagulation factors, and IV push narcotics
- Telemetry monitoring
- Neutropenic and isolation precautions
- Patient and family education
- Symptom management for common oncology-related complications
