Oncology Registered Nurse

Overview

• Travel/contract role in Saint Louis, Missouri
• 12-week assignment
• Night shift: 4x9s, 10:00 PM–7:30 AM
• 36 hours per week
• First-time travelers accepted
• Floating within scope may be required
• No block scheduling
• Local candidates are not accepted
• Home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility
• Pending license accepted
• Guaranteed hours provided

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Missouri
• Oncology (1 year of experience)
• Oncology experience within the last year
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Two professional references
• Unit-specific skills checklist within 1 year of start
• Employment application
• Background check

• Drug screening within 1 year of start
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit testing
• TB screening
• Flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
• Tdap documentation or declination

Preferred Qualifications

• ONS/ONCC certification
• OCN certification

Schedule Expectations

• 4 weekend shifts per contract
• RTO limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract

Unit Details

• Oncology outpatient department with 8 treatment chairs
• 7 private rooms/beds for isolation patients and provider evaluations
• Provider on site 24/7
• Patients may be held in the department for more than 24 hours awaiting an inpatient bed
• Overnight work includes finishing infusion treatments and managing evaluations

• Chemotherapy and biotherapy
• Blood transfusions

• IV fluids
• Electrolyte replacement
• EKGs
• Phlebotomy
• Blood glucose monitoring
• Port access and care
• Central line care and blood draws
• PICC line care
• IV starts
• Infusion pump management
• Medication administration including antibiotics, antivirals, antifungals, corticosteroids, antiemetics, Neupogen, coagulation factors, and IV push narcotics
• Telemetry monitoring
• Neutropenic and isolation precautions
• Patient and family education
• Symptom management for common oncology-related complications
