MS/Tele

Overview

• Travel/Contract RN role in Wilmington, North Carolina.
• 13-week contract.
• Night shift: 3x12 hours, 18:45–7:15.
• 36 hours per week; 48 hours also accepted.
• Locals are accepted.
• First-time travelers are accepted.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in North Carolina.
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
• Med Surg / Telemetry (2 years of experience).
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year.
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Must pass EKG Testing prior to start.
• RTO after booking is not allowed.

Preferred Qualifications

• MS/Tele experience.
• Telemetry.
• Management of dysrhythmias.
• Telemetry on-unit monitoring.
• Accessing Ports.
• Insulin.
• CVA.
• Surgical drains.
• Interpretation of ABGs.
• Trachesotomy Management.
• EPIC.

Clinical Skills / Experience

• MED/Surg.
• Telemetry-remote monitoring.
• Use of Rapid Response Team.
• Interpretation of dysrhythmias.
• IV insulin protocols.
• Colostomy Care.
• Feeding tube care & management.
• Pre/Post Hemodialysis Management.
• Blood Product Administration.
• Central line blood draw.
• Peripheral Line Care/Management.
• Phlebotomy.
• PICC line management.
• Starting IVs.
• Heparin.
• PCA.
• Chest tubes-Emerson/Pleuravac.
• CPAP/BiPAP.
• High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC).
• Nasal Cannula.
• Non-invasive airway management.
• Oral Suctioning.
• Oxygen face masks.
• Portable Oxygen tank.
• Isolation Precautions.
• Wound Care/Wound Vac.

Unit Details

• Target ratio: 1:5-6.
• Floating is required.
• Weekend requirement: 12-16 per contract.
• Unit orientation: 24 hours.
• Hospital orientation occurs during week one, and the traveler must be available for classes each day.
• Unit includes an isolation area for COVID patients.
• Multi-level care includes stepdown, but stepdown patients are cared for by stepdown staff, not M/S staff.

• Encephalopathy.

• Anemia.
• Hip fracture.

Scheduling / Work Expectations

• Contract staff may be assigned to Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team.
• Staff may be required to report during a catastrophic event, mass casualty, or disaster.
• Consolidation to the Centralized Office mid-contract may occur.
• Staff may be preassigned to units as needed.
