Overview

• Travel/Contract role in Omaha, Nebraska.
• 13-week contract.
• Day shift: 3x12 hours, 7:00–19:30.
• 36-hour weekly option is available; 48-hour option is also mentioned.
• Mixed Acuity (Medical Surgical/Telemetry & Stepdown) unit.
• 48-bed unit caring for medical surgical patients specializing in Neurology and Neurosurgery.
• Eight beds are equipped for long-term EEG monitoring.
• Travelers are first to float.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Nebraska.
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
• Neuro PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year.
• 2 years of Neuro PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience.
• One completed travel assignment.
• NIHSS.
• Stepdown experience.
• Experience with Epic.
• Must be prepared to float frequently to meet hospital staffing needs.
• Will float within scope to meet facility needs, including potentially to Bellevue campus.
• Drips are required on all floors.
• Must be more than 100 miles from the facility.

Preferred

• Will consider first timers only if the traveler has 2 years of experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center.

Unit Details

• RNs should be prepared to care for up to five Med Surg patients.
• MS/Tele ratios are 1:5 days and 1:6 nights; night ratio can rarely be 1:7 depending on staffing.
• Stepdown ratios are 1:3–4 on days and nights.
• Units may include 4CS, 5 West, 6 Neuro, 4/5 Lied, 6/7 Lied, 7 HVU, 8 Werner, 9 Trauma, Bellevue MS, Observation, and SOTU.

Scheduling

• 4 weekend shifts out of 8 possible in a 4-week period.
• Travelers must work 2 of 3 major holidays.
• Up to 2 weeks of RTO is permitted and must be submitted with the application.

Additional Notes

• Pending license is accepted; if the license is not in hand at submission, the traveler will be booked six weeks out.
• Scrubs are mandatory: Steele gray scrubs with the Nebraska Medicine logo on the back.
• The facility is 100% nicotine free.
