MS/Tele RN - Inpatient Surgery Unit

Overview

• Travel/Contract RN assignment in Wilmington, North Carolina.
• Night shift: 3x12 hours, 18:45–07:15.
• 36 or 48 hours accepted.
• Contract length: 13 weeks.
• Float required as needed.
• Every other weekend required.
• No call required.
• Ratios: 1:6.
• Combination acuity unit: Adult medical surgical and surgical stepdown.
• Locals accepted at local rate.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in North Carolina.
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
• Med Surg / Telemetry (2 years of experience).
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year.
• BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Experience with NG tubes.
• Experience with wound care.
• Experience with JP Drains.
• Trauma experience.

Preferred

• Will consider 1st time travelers if experienced.

Unit Details

• Inpatient Surgery Unit.
• Patient population includes surgical and trauma-related diagnoses.
• Common procedures include cholecystectomy, appendectomy, hernia repair, TURP, ostomy creation or closure, wound debridement, tumor removal, kidney stone removal, amputations, and Fem Pop Bypass.
• Common equipment includes wound vacs, chest tubes, NG tube/Corpak, JP drains, Hemovac drains, and Penrose drains.
• Unit systems: Pyxis, EPIC, SBAR.
• Orientation includes 2 days of hospital orientation and 24 hours of floor training.
• Scrubs: all navy or navy bottoms with white top.

Additional Notes

• RTO after booking is not allowed.
• Contract staff may be assigned to Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team coverage and may be required to report during a catastrophic event, mass casualty, or disaster.
• Consolidation to the Centralized Office mid-contract may occur, with preassignment to units as needed.
