Registered Nurse – ER

Location: Duarte, California Employment Type: Travel/Contract Contract Length: 13 weeks Shift: Day (3x12 hours), 7:00 to 19:30 Hours: 12 per day, 36 per week

Role Overview

RN for the Evaluation and Treatment Center (ETC), providing timely assessment and treatment for patients with urgent medical concerns related to cancer care or other health conditions. The ETC addresses acute symptoms that need prompt attention but may not require an Emergency Department visit.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• ED - Emergency Department (2 years of experience)
• ED - Emergency Department experience within the last year
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association or RQI
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or RQI
• PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support issued by American Heart Association or RQI
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing
• Experience working with Adult patients
• Experience working with Spinal Cord Injury patients
• Experience working with Urinary patients
• Blood Product Administration
• Experience with central line management
• IV insulin protocols
• IV vasopressors
• Experience with conscious or moderate sedation
• Chest tube insertion/management
• Intubation
• Experience with Epic

Onboarding Requirements

• Orientation: 36 hours
• Seafoam green scrubs, required (not provided)
• Agency badge, provided by the agency; passport-style photo with a solid background required for badge
• Government-issued photo ID
• Background check within 1 year of start, covering all locations lived, worked, or attended school in the past 7 years, updated annually. Includes Social Security trace, county and nationwide criminal searches, national sex offender search, and education verification
• EPLS/GSA/SAM check, required
• HHS/OIG check, required
• State license verification and NURSYS verification, required prior to start
• Employment application, required
• Physical exam with physician statement within the last 12 months
• Fit test within 12 months prior to start; any N95 mask is acceptable; updated annually (fit testing on site is not an option for per diem clinicians)
• RespSafety clearance, required annually
• TB: 2-step PPD (one within 8 weeks of start and one within 12 months), or QuantiFERON Gold/T-SPOT in lieu of 2 PPDs; chest X-ray required for anyone with a past positive TB test; TB questionnaire required annually
• Measles, mumps, and rubella: 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
• Hepatitis B: series or positive titer; declination only with proof of non-immunity
• Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; low or equivocal titers require 2 boosters or a signed declination
• Tdap within 10 years, or declination form
• 10-panel oral drug screen (THC included) within 1 year of start
• Flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption, required before start during flu season
• COVID booster, or signed declination if not administered on or after September 2023
• Forms: job description acknowledgement, EHS information, health focus questionnaire (time-sensitive), orientation safety manual acknowledgement (annual), religious or medical exemption forms if requested (time-sensitive, require facility approval), Tdap declination if applicable
