Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Beckley, West Virginia

Position Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse

• Shift: Day shift, options for 3 or 4 twelve-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
• Hours per Week: 36 hours
• Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit & Work Environment

• Expanding unit with patient ratios typically 1:5 or 1:6 (may fluctuate with census and call-ins)
• Meditech EMR system used
• Float within scope of practice required
• Every other weekend required
• Blocked scheduling cannot be accommodated
• Orientation occurs bi-weekly
• Must reside within 75 miles of the facility

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in West Virginia
• Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience, with telemetry experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Competencies & Exams

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for all units except Psych, OR, Rehab, and true Med Surg)
• Core Competency Exams (Parts I, II, III)
• Competency exams must be current within one year prior to start and renewed annually

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Annual physical exam or physician note within 1 year prior to start, stating clearance to work without restrictions
• Fit mask test to be completed onsite (PAPR not accommodated if facial hair present; medical/religious exemptions allowed)
• Immunizations and documentation required prior to start:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (valid within 10 years; Td not accepted)
  • Negative TB test via QuantiFERON blood test within 1 year (T-Spot/PPD not accepted)
  • TB questionnaire if positive TB history
  • Proof of 2 MMR vaccinations or positive titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, and Rubella
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination (declination must be within 1 year of start)
  • Proof of 2 varicella vaccinations or positive titer
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/1 - 3/31) with documentation uploaded within 48 hours of offer acceptance
• Drug testing within 30 days of start using a specific 9-panel bundle (no THC) with expanded opiates and oxycodone; annual updates required

Background & Compliance

• Comprehensive background check required within 30 days prior to start, including:

  • National criminal search, sex offender registry, fugitive database, violent offenders, county searches for last 7 years
  • FACIS 3 or equivalent, SAM (EPLS), OIG, OMIG, OFAC checks
  • Social Security verification
• Education verification included in background or third-party verification
• State-specific clearances:

  • West Virginia APS/CPS search results (annual update required)
• Employment application and resume with education and work history required
• Signed and dated specialty job description must be renewed annually
• Employee health attestation and compliance with facility-specific health policies required prior to start
