Medical Surgical Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract
Location: Athens, Georgia
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
- Patient Population: Adults to Geriatrics
- Typical Patient Diagnoses: Spine and neck surgical patients, stroke patients, medical surgical overflow
- Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 5 patients
- Average Daily Census: 30 patients
- Unit Systems: Epic, Pyxis, SBAR
- Scrub Color: Navy Blue
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Floating: Yes, within facility and scope of practice as needed
- Call: None
- Holiday Work: Required to work 1 or 2 major holidays if they fall during the assignment (major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)
- Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
- Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Additional Information
- Orientation: Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)
- Compliance: Full compliance with all requirements is mandatory to start on time; delays in compliance may result in a 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation scheduling
- Locals Accepted: Local candidates accepted at the same rate
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required; 1st time travelers accepted
This position offers a challenging night shift role caring for adult and geriatric medical-surgical patients with a focus on spine, neck, and stroke care in a fast-paced environment using Epic and other clinical systems.
