Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Telemetry

Location: Leonardtown, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:45 – 07:15)
Patient Ratio: 1:6

Job Description

• Provide nursing care on Telemetry unit with skills in ER Holding and Telemetry.
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias.
• Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity.
• Weekends and holidays required as per unit needs.
• Orientation provided weekly; immediate start preferred.
• Scrub color: Caribbean Blue.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland.
• Minimum 2 years of Telemetry nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Certifications:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification
• Experience in ER Holding unit.

Additional Requirements

• Must be willing to work weekends and holidays as needed.
• Must be able to float to other units of similar or lower acuity.
• First-time travel nurses accepted (prior travel experience not required).
• Valid driver’s license required if driving is an essential job function.
• Must complete background checks, drug screening, and health documentation prior to start.
• Required health documents include:

  • Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
  • Flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
  • N95 fit test within 9 months of start and annually thereafter
• Must complete facility-specific orientation modules prior to start.
• Must complete annual competency exams and safety manual acknowledgments.

Work Environment

• Night shift with 3 consecutive 12-hour shifts.
• Patient ratio approximately 1 nurse to 6 patients.
• Floating between units may be required.
• Blocking of shifts at discretion of unit leadership.

Summary

This travel RN position on a Telemetry unit requires a minimum of 2 years RN experience, specific certifications (ACLS, BLS, NIHSS), and successful completion of a specialized EKG competency exam. The role involves night shifts with a 1:6 patient ratio, floating responsibilities, and weekend/holiday work. First-time travelers are welcome. Comprehensive background checks, health screenings, and facility orientation are mandatory before starting.
