Job Description
- Must be willing to float to NICU, CV PICU, Emergency Department, Stepdown, and Medical-Surgical units as needed.
- Assignments will be appropriate to experience and float expectations.
- Recent Level 1 PICU experience required.
- Candidates with approximately 3 years of PICU experience may be considered if they are first-time travelers.
- Two supervisory references required, including at least one supervisor or manager reference.
- Highly preferred: 2 years of PICU experience.
Required Qualifications
- License: Ohio State or Compact Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years PICU experience preferred; 3 years PICU experience recommended for first-time travelers.
- References: Two professional references required (charge RN acceptable for one); peer references not accepted.
- Certifications:
- ACLS (American Heart Association)
- BLS (American Heart Association)
- PALS (American Heart Association)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – required for NICU float
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
- Background and Compliance:
- Criminal background check within 30 days of start (7-year search including all counties lived/worked).
- Education verification through National Student Clearinghouse or equivalent.
- Ohio BCI/FBI fingerprinting within 60 days of start (must be updated for each new contract).
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start.
- Sex offender search within 30 days of start.
- State-specific searches including Ohio Nurse Aide Registry, Ohio Inmate Registry, Ohio Medicaid Exemption, and Ohio State Abuse Registry within 30 days of start.
- Health and Safety:
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start.
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (Oct 31 – May 31); medical/religious exemptions require facility approval.
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years.
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or positive titer.
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) immunity via positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters required if titers are negative or equivocal.
- Varicella immunity via positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters required if titers are negative or equivocal.
- TB testing: Two PPDs or IGRA within 12 months; additional requirements if positive.
- N95 fit testing required within 1 year of start; annual updates required.
- Other Requirements:
- Current government-issued photo ID matching legal name on license and certifications.
- Legal name must match RN license and all compliance documents.
- Education verification required; special approval needed if nursing diploma is not ASN/BSN.
- Unit-specific skills checklist required and must be updated annually.
- Employment application or resume required.
