Registered Nurse – CVPICU (Columbus, Ohio)

Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Night (4 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Overview

  • Floating required to multiple units including NICU, PICU, Emergency Department, Stepdown, and Medical-Surgical as needed.
  • Must comply with facility float expectations and be willing to accept assignments in these areas.
  • Prefers close to 2 years of nursing experience.
  • Requires 2 supervisory references, with at least one from a supervisor or manager (peer references not accepted).

Required Licenses & Certifications

  • Current Ohio State RN license or Compact RN license.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA certification only (Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted).
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA certification only.
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA certification only.
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – AHA/AAP certification required for NICU RNs.
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – Certification required as applicable.
  • Other certifications such as ENPC and Tech Cert Verification as applicable.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience preferred.

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Criminal background check within 30 days of start, including a 7-year county search and education verification through National Student Clearinghouse.
  • Fingerprinting (OH BCI/FBI) required within 60 days of start and must be updated for each new contract.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
  • Sex Offender Search, Ohio Nurse Aide Registry Search, Ohio Inmate Registry Search, Ohio Medicaid Exemption, and Ohio State Abuse Registry searches required within 30 days of start.
  • Education verification required, including highest degree verification. Special approval needed if nursing diploma is below ASN/BSN.
  • Drug screening (9-panel) within 60 days prior to start, including amphetamines, benzodiazepines, cocaine, opiates, marijuana, fentanyl, and others. Must be initiated within 72 hours of contract signing.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, with specific protocols for positive results. TB questionnaire required prior to start.
  • Physical exam or signed Infection Control Policy required prior to start.
  • N95 fit testing required within 1 year of start and updated annually.

Immunization & Health Requirements

  • Flu vaccine required annually (October 31 – May 31). Medical/religious exemptions accepted with facility approval and completion of exemption policy.
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine required within 10 years of start (must be completed after age 11).
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters required if titers are negative or equivocal. Religious exemptions not accepted.
  • Hepatitis B – Declination, completed 3-vaccine series, or positive titer required.
  • Varicella – Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters required if titers are negative or equivocal.

Additional Requirements

  • Current government-issued photo ID required within 24-48 hours of contract signing (no temporary IDs accepted).
  • Legal name on all documents must match RN license and certifications exactly (including middle name if listed).
  • Resume or employment application required.
  • Unit-specific skills checklist required and must be updated annually.
  • Candidates must complete facility-specific documents including Code of Conduct and Confidentiality and IT Use Agreement prior to start.
  • Candidates must complete fingerprint screening questions prior to start.
  • Candidates must comply with facility’s infection control policies.
