Operating Room Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract

Location: Orange, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Schedule: Day shift, 4x10 hour shifts (6:00 AM - 4:30 PM)
• Call Requirement: Yes; 5 weekdays and 2 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
• Weekend Coverage: Yes
• Float Requirement: No
• Patient Population: Inpatient/outpatient pediatric patients; adults on rare occasions
• Work Environment: Fast-paced procedure center with minor surgical cases including ENT, plastics, general surgery, ophthalmology, urology, dentistry, oncology
• Documentation System: SurgiNet (Cerner)
• Endoscopy: Willingness to train if needed
• Additional Specialty Experience: GI & Pulmonary experience preferred
• EMR experience required and must be verified

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, with OR experience within the last year
• Current certifications:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience in an outpatient setting

Compliance & Onboarding Requirements

• Background Checks:

  • Criminal background check within 60 days of start (7-year search including SSN trace, national databases, sex offender registry, aliases, education verification)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 60 days of start
• Education Verification: Highest applicable degree verification required (transcript or diploma acceptable as placeholder if pending)
• Drug Testing: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 60 days of start (instant drug screens not accepted)
• Health Requirements:

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 60 days of start (IGRA or 2-step PPD acceptable)
  • Annual TB questionnaire completion required
  • Tdap vaccine required (TD or Dtap not acceptable)
  • Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
  • Fit mask testing required prior to start (cannot be completed onsite) for specified units including Procedure Center
  • Eye exam (in-person visual acuity) required prior to start
  • Color blind exam (Ishihara test) required prior to start
• References: Two supervisor references required (charge RN or floor supervisor acceptable)
• Work History Verification: Minimum verification of 2 previous employers covering up to 7 years of relevant experience (cannot be pending)

Orientation & Facility Specific Requirements

• Orientation includes virtual and in-person components; must be completed prior to starting clinical work
• Completion of facility-specific modules required (6-8 hours approx.) with strict deadlines
• Various signed acknowledgments and agreements required before start, including:

  • Job description acknowledgment
  • Non-disclosure agreement
  • Safety and conduct packets
  • Fingernail hygiene policy (no artificial nails allowed; natural nails must be ≤ ¼ inch)
  • AIDET acknowledgment
• Photo for badge must be professional and submitted timely
• Pyxis access form must be completed prior to start
• Radiation badge required for Procedure Center staff (badge provided by facility for new hires)

Additional Notes

• Candidate should have strong skills and experience working in a fast-paced environment
• Must be available to start by August 10
• All documentation including IDs must be presented upon arrival
• COVID-19 vaccines preferred but not required; religious and medical exemptions available with proper documentation
