Pediatric Cardiology Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Role involves pre and post-anesthesia care for cardiovascular, electrophysiology (EP), and interventional catheterization procedures.
- Patient population ranges from neonates to geriatric congenital cardiac patients.
- Responsibilities include sedated studies, clinic visits, and cardiac surgical workups.
- Requires strong knowledge of normal and abnormal cardiovascular anatomy and physiology.
- Perform 2-3 patient visits per day.
Schedule
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (06:30 AM – 7:00 PM)
- Staff stay until the last patient is discharged or admitted (rarely past 7 PM)
- Minimum of 2 Mondays and 2 Fridays per month required
- No weekend or on-call requirements
- No floating within or to sister facilities
- Self-scheduling with team; manager finalizes schedule
- Radius rule: 60 miles
- Locals accepted on a case-by-case basis
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in South Carolina
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 1 year of pediatric nursing experience within the last year
- Pediatric Cardiology experience
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
Health and Safety Requirements
- Annual physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Fit test for N95 mask within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tdap within 10 years or declination form
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or vaccination series)
- Varicella (positive titer or vaccination series)
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or proof of prior positive with chest x-ray
- Annual TB questionnaire
- 10-panel drug screen within 90 days prior to start
- COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
- Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season
Background and Documentation
- Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Employment verification for last 3 clinical employers
- Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Complete employment application including all PTO, contract assignments, agency names, and no unaccounted gaps
- Primary source verification of SC RN license (active, unencumbered, no pending actions)
- NURSYS verification required
- Copy of driver’s license and social security card required
- E-Verify attestation confirming work eligibility in the US
- Education verification required; diploma or transcripts accepted as placeholder if needed
Facility Specific Requirements
- Passport-style badge photo required (frontal view, solid light background, business casual attire)
- Completion of orientation modules prior to start (approx. 2 hours, must be done on computer)
- Upload COVID and flu vaccine documentation into facility system prior to start
- All requested documents must be submitted and approved before orientation
- Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks (no guaranteed hours)
- Travelers assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June-November)

- Scheduling is team-based with manager oversight to ensure coverage
