Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / MS/Tele

Shift: Nights (4 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7 PM – 7 AM)
Hours per Week: 48 hours

Job Overview

• Work in a Level I Trauma Center, short-term acute care hospital setting.
• Patient ratio approximately 1:7 with team nursing support including PCC and other RNs.
• On-call and weekend shifts required on a rotating basis.
• No local candidates accepted; must be outside a 100-mile radius.
• Weekend block scheduling not accommodated, but weekend rotation may be considered.
• First-time travelers not accepted unless they have 3+ years of recent experience.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Tennessee.
• Minimum 2 years of recent Medical Surgical / Telemetry nursing experience within the last year.
• One completed travel nursing assignment.
• Experience working with Level I Trauma patients.
• Experience in a large hospital setting.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).
• ACLS certification.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.

Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC only.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or ARC only, required for MS/Tele specialty.
• NIH Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS) – required and must be renewed annually.
• Other certifications such as PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM are not required for this role.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Two forms of government-issued ID (e.g., driver’s license, social security card, passport).
• Background check within 60 days of start including statewide, county, federal, and education verification.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and annually thereafter.
• Education verification required (diploma/transcript not accepted in lieu).
• Separate sex offender search and Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry check (TN only).
• Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days of start (no pending compliance allowed).
• Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet job demands.
• Fit test for 3M N-95 masks within 1 year, must pass without limitations.
• Immunizations: Proof of immunity or vaccination for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Hepatitis B (declinations not accepted except Hep B signed declination).
• Negative TB test (2-step PPD, Q-Gold, or T-spot) within 1 year; if positive, clear chest x-ray within 2 years plus annual TB questionnaire.
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Apr 30). Exemptions require mask wearing in patient areas and may delay start date.

Additional Requirements

• Photo badge meeting strict guidelines (passport-style, no hats, no glasses glare, no filters, recent within 6 months).
• Submission of all required documents at time of offer; no retroactive approvals.
• Two recent professional references required.
• Skills checklist and internal evaluations required annually or after one year with agency.
• EPIC questionnaire required if candidate has EPIC experience.
• Dress code: Navy blue scrubs for RNs; no prints or embroidered scrubs allowed.

• Candidates must not be submitted to multiple job IDs/facilities simultaneously.
• No accommodation for pending licenses or local candidates within 100 miles.
• Travel experience and large hospital experience are mandatory.
• On-call and weekend shifts are part of the rotation and may be required.
