Occupational Therapist - Acute Care Hospital

Location: Los Angeles, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Therapy/Rehabilitation (Occupational Therapy)
  • Shift: Day shift, 5 days per week, 8 hours per day (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM)
  • Total Hours: 40 hours per week

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Occupational Therapist license in California
  • Minimum 2 years of Occupational Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA only)

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • Standard background check including 7-year residential/work/school history, sex offender search, and federal exclusions (EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG)
  • Education verification via transcript, diploma, or equivalent
  • Employment application required
  • Two professional references required for travel/allied/per diem acute care roles

Certifications and Competencies

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA only
  • Fire Card issued by an LAFD-approved instructor must be obtained within 30 days of start (Blue card only; red card not accepted)
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
  • Competency exams as required by profession, meeting or exceeding passing scores
  • Additional certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (not specified for OT)

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam clearance within the past year
  • Fit mask testing within 12 months prior to start (acceptable masks: 3M Aura 9205+ or 3M 1860 Small)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination
  • Negative TB test (QGold, Tspot, or 2-step PPD) within 12 months; documentation required for past positives including chest x-ray
  • Required immunizations with positive titers (no declinations accepted):
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B: positive titer, 3-vaccine series, or declination with proof of prior vaccination or negative titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (September - March)
  • COVID vaccination and booster or documented declination
  • 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start

Facility-Specific Requirements

  • Passport-style photo for badge
  • Completion of orientation checklists within first 30 days, including:
    • General orientation
    • Unit-specific competency
    • CORE competency
    • Unit tour
  • Required attestations and agreements including:
    • De-escalation modules
    • Arbitration agreement
    • Voluntary meal waiver
    • Access request form
  • Assault Response Competency (ARC) training required within 30 days of start (live 4-hour training, $80 fee)
