Medical Lab Technician - Travel/Contract

Job Details
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Night shift, 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts (23:00 - 7:30)
- Hours per week: 40 hours
- Weekend Requirement: Rotating weekends
- Holiday Requirement: Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Locals accepted: Yes
- Guaranteed Hours Options:
- 8 or 10 hour shifts totaling 40 hours/week
- 3 shifts of 12 hours totaling 36 hours/week
- 4 shifts of 12 hours totaling 48 hours/week
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of Medical Lab Technician experience within the last year
- National Certification required: ASCP, MLS, or MLT
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam completed within 12 months of start date
- Fit mask test within 12 months of start with approved respirators (3M N95 models or Honeywell N95)
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tuberculosis test (PPD, QuantiFERON-TB Gold, or T-SPOT) within 1 year
- Rubeola (Measles): Positive titer or 2 vaccines required (no declinations accepted)
- Mumps: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required (no declinations accepted)
- Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required (no declinations accepted)
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required (no declinations accepted; history not accepted)
- Hepatitis B: Series, titer, or signed declination required
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Strongly recommended (preferred)
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/30 - 3/31)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (includes amphetamines, marijuana, cocaine, opiates, PCP)
- TB Questionnaire updated annually
Documentation and Compliance
- Minimum 2 professional references from recent employment verified within 2 years (must be from charge, manager, supervisor, or above)
- Current employment application with full work history and explanations for gaps over 30 days
- Skills checklist completed within 12 months and updated annually
- Education verification and official transcripts/diplomas required (may be pending at start if needed)
- Facility-specific documents and compliance forms must be completed as a priority prior to start
- HIPAA Acknowledgement required and updated annually
Additional Notes
- On-site fit testing available only as a last resort and with prior approval
- Personal or auto insurance proof required only for Hospice specialty (not applicable here)
- Some certifications and requirements may vary by cost center and must be verified accordingly
This position is suitable for experienced Medical Lab Technicians with required certifications and prior travel contract experience, willing to work night shifts with rotating weekends and holiday coverage.
