Job Opportunity: Radiation Oncology Registered Nurse

Location: Edmonds, Washington
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Outpatient Radiation Oncology Registered Nurse role
  • Schedule options:
    • 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 3:00 PM or 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM)
    • 4 days a week, 10-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 5:00 PM)
  • No weekends, no call, no floating required

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington
  • Minimum 3 years of oncology nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Certifications & Competencies

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation)
  • Other certifications may be required based on clinical track but not specified here

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Social Security Card (as applicable)
  • Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; must be updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start, updated monthly
  • Education verification required (nursing degree verification)
  • WA State Patrol Search required within 90 days of start, updated every 2 years for certain facility types
  • Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (instant acceptable)
  • References: Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment within last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
  • Employment application covering at least last 5 years of employment with explanations for gaps or overlaps

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, indicating ability to work with or without accommodation
  • Fit mask test (respirator clearance) required for travel nurses, updated annually
  • Immunizations/vaccinations or proof of immunity required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years; declination accepted)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer; declination accepted
    • Hepatitis B: vaccination series or signed declination; positive titer with vaccination also accepted
    • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; declination accepted
    • Seasonal Flu vaccine during flu season (declination accepted)
    • COVID-19 vaccination record preferred; declinations not required but unvaccinated must follow masking policies

Training & Onboarding

  • Completion of annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS required
  • Epic training modules must be completed within a week of orientation; transcripts required
  • Competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency as applicable

Additional Notes

  • Radiation badges issued by facility as applicable
  • Float policy acknowledgment required; may be asked to float to nearby facilities
  • WA Multi-State Licensed Nurses must complete demographic attestation prior to start
  • Physical and health document requirements vary for onsite vs. remote roles (this role is onsite)

This position is ideal for experienced oncology RNs with prior travel experience seeking a structured day-shift schedule without weekends or call.
