Registered Nurse (MS/Tele) - Travel/Contract
Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (4 shifts per 2 weeks, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
Hours per Week: 48
Job Description
- Option for 36 or 48-hour shifts and 13 or 26 week contract lengths.
- Frequent floating required to meet hospital staffing needs; may float to various units including a sister campus 16 minutes away.
- Units served include Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, Neuro, Trauma, Oncology, Cardiac, Transplant, Progressive Care, and Observation units.
- Drip medication administration required on all floors.
- EPIC electronic charting experience required.
- First-time travel nurses not accepted unless they have 2 years of experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center.
- Care teams include CNAs, care techs, transport team, paramedics, and sometimes LPNs.
- Facility is 100% nicotine-free.
- Weekend requirement: 4 weekend shifts out of 8 possible in a 4-week period (days: Sat/Sun; nights: Fri/Sat nights).
- Holiday requirement: Must work 2 out of 3 major winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s).
- Local candidates not accepted (must live more than 100 miles from facility).
- Pending license accepted if in hand at time of submission; otherwise, booking delayed by six weeks.
- Mandatory scrubs: Steele gray with facility logo on back (details provided after confirmation).
- Parking permit available (~$55/month) or daily parking rates apply.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Nebraska (pending license accepted with conditions).
- Minimum 1 year of recent Telemetry experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Experience with EPIC electronic charting system.
- Valid Driver's License.
Certifications & Compliance
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) strongly preferred.
- PALS, NRP, NIH Stroke Certification as applicable per unit.
- Background check within 30 days of start, including criminal history and education verification.
- State-specific registry and abuse/neglect checks required.
- Drug screening within 60 days of start and updated annually.
- Physical exam and fit mask test (3M 1860 Small/Regular or 3M 1870+) within 1 year, updated annually.
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tdap within last 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray with TB questionnaire if positive history
- MMR (2 vaccines or positive titer with boosters if needed)
- Hepatitis B titer or declination
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer with boosters if needed)
- Flu vaccine documentation or declination required prior to start for 2025-2026 season
- COVID vaccine preferred; exemptions accepted
- Annual skills checklist required.
- Two professional references from the last 2 years required.
