Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Job Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse

• Shift Requirements:

  • 50% of holidays and weekends
  • Every other weekend
• Patient Ratios: 1:2
• Float Assignments: ICU and Medical-Surgical units
• Experience: 1 year experience acceptable
• Preferred Experience: ICU experience with strong Neuro checklist; Stroke experience required

Required Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): AHA or ARC Provider card required for ICU and critical care areas including Neuro ICU
• BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA or ARC Provider card required for all RNs
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute): Preferred, especially for Psych/Behavioral Health RNs; can be completed onsite if not obtained prior to start
• NIH Stroke Certification: Preferred but not required for Neuro ICU and Medical Surgical-Neuro
• Other certifications may be required depending on specialty and unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, EFM)

Experience & Skills

• ICU experience with strong neurological skills
• Stroke patient care experience required
• Ability to float between ICU and Med Surg units

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background Checks:

  • 7-year background check required within 60 days of start
  • Includes alias/all names search, counties lived/worked/school, national and federal criminal searches, sex offender search, social security trace, and others
  • International background checks required if candidate traveled outside the USA in last 7 years
  • MO-specific searches (FCSR and EDL) required within 60 days
• Health Documents:

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year (updated annually)
  • Immunizations/vaccinations including Tdap (within 10 years), MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B (series or titer), Flu seasonal vaccination or approved exemption
  • Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 60 days of start
  • Fit mask test within 1 year (not required for some tech roles)
• Licenses:

  • State license primary source verification within 60 days of start
  • NURSYS verification for RN license within 60 days
• References: Two professional references within last 3 years required
• Resume: Minimum 7 years employment history with no gaps over 30 days; education and contact info required

Additional Notes

• Photo ID and proof of employment eligibility required
• Various facility-specific forms and agreements must be completed prior to start
• Time-sensitive documents (background checks, health screenings, registrations) must be initiated within 48 hours of signing contract
• Some certifications and verifications have strict deadlines and renewal requirements

This position is ideal for RNs with ICU and neurological experience who are comfortable working varied shifts including holidays and weekends, and who meet the comprehensive credentialing and compliance requirements of the University of Missouri Health System.
