Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Sumter, South Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Requirements
- Must have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Must hold a South Carolina nursing license or a multistate license
- Minimum 1 year of EPIC experience required
- Must comply with Prisma Health Floating Policy:
- Agency staff may be required to float to other Prisma Health units or campuses based on census needs
- Floating only to units where the nurse is qualified and competent
Certifications & Training Requirements
- BLS: AHA, RQI, or ARC only; no online-only courses; must be current and not expire within 30 days of start
- ACLS: Required for many units including ICU, ER, Telemetry, Pediatrics, L&D, Radiology, Surgery, Med Surg, etc.; must be AHA or ARC; no expiration within 30 days of start
- PALS: Required for Pediatric units, ER, PACU; AHA or ARC only; no expiration within 30 days of start
- NRP: Required for NICU, Pediatrics, and some RRT roles; AHA only; advanced NRP required
- TNCC: Required for ER/ED and Pediatric ER; must be current and valid during assignment
- ENPC: Required for ER and Pediatric ER; must be current and valid during assignment
- CPI or MAB: Required for ER/ED, Pediatric ER, Behavioral Health; must be valid for entire assignment
- NIH Stroke Certification: Required annually for ICU, Neuro ICU, ER, Telemetry, Stepdown, PACU, and other specified units
- Tech Certification (National): Must be current and valid within 30 days of start
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement: HIPAA and OSHA/TJC training; must be current and valid
- State License Verification: Primary source verification required; license must be valid and not expiring within 30 days of start
- NURSYS Verification: Must show authorization to work in South Carolina
- IV Certification: Required for LPN/LVN candidates
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication): Required for RNs in specified units; must pass with 84% or higher; two attempts allowed
- Core Competency Training (Parts I, II, III): Annual training including universal precautions, cultural diversity, pain management, OSHA, TJC National Patient Safety Goals, etc.; must be current and valid
- Additional Certifications:
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) as applicable
- STABLE for L&D and NICU travelers
- Lactation Certificate for Women’s Health RNs (L&D, Mother/Baby)
- Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing for RNs and certain tech roles
Background & Compliance Checks
- 7-year background check within 12 months of start required
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and every 30 days thereafter
- Fingerprinting required for certain roles and states (e.g., WV)
- Education verification required for highest level of education
- OFAC Sanctions List search required for all new candidates
- Drug screening required within 1 year of start and updated annually (5-panel minimum)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, attesting ability to meet job demands
- Respirator Fit Test completed onsite during orientation (N95 masks commonly used)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine required for high-risk areas
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QF Gold, or Tspot) within 90 days of start
- Annual TB questionnaire required
- Immunizations or positive titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (vaccination series, positive titer, or signed declination)
- Seasonal Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required by deadlines (not required for remote workers)
- COVID-19 vaccine no longer required
Orientation & Testing
- Online orientation modules must be completed within 72 hours of assignment
- Pre-assignment testing (medication and EKG) must be completed within 72 hours of receiving login info; two attempts allowed
- EKG practice test and study guide provided for applicable roles
- Badge photo required with specific guidelines (passport style, plain background, no hats or sunglasses)
Additional Notes
- Floating policy must be signed and renewed annually
- Contractor acknowledgment form required within 24 hours of contract signing
- Performance evaluations and internal evaluations required if worked with agency over 1 year
- Employment application required only for non-clinical and EEG techs
