Location: Chicago, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Medical/Surgical (Med/Surg)
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- No block scheduling
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
- Call Requirements: None
- Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 5 days off with no more than 2 consecutive days; no RTO on holidays or weekends, and no RTO the day before or after a holiday
- Floating: Mandatory float within scope as required by the facility
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Experience & Certification Requirements
- Minimum 2 years recent acute care experience in Med/Surg
- Certifications Required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification (required as of 10/14/2024 for Med/Surg RNs)
- Certifications Preferred:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)

Location Preference
- Locals accepted, preference for candidates living within 75 miles of the facility

Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (driver’s license or state ID)
- Background checks covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Physical exam within 12 months, signed by PA, NP, DO, or MD
- Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) within 1 year, required annually
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years or signed declination
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) with 2 vaccines or positive titer
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination
- Varicella with 2 vaccines or positive titer
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start, updated annually
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Apr 1)
- COVID-19 vaccination is not required as of 8/21/2025
Competency Exams (Required for start on/after specified dates)
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required within 12 months of start)
- Color Blind Testing (required within 12 months of start)
- General Competency Exam (required within 12 months of start)
Additional Notes
- Must complete facility-specific forms and rules of behavior
- References: 2 references within 2 years preferred but not mandatory to start
- Skills checklist required annually
