Job Details
- Location: Tucson, Arizona
- Specialty: Therapy/Rehabilitation (Occupational Therapy)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Schedule: 40 hours/week, 0800-1630, with 2 required weekend shifts
- Call: Required as needed
- Float: Required
- No first-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience required)
- No locals accepted
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 1 year Occupational Therapy acute care experience
- Must score a 4 on the skills checklist for acute care
- Experience with Activities of Daily Living, adult OT, and Orthopedics required
- Experience handling Adult Acute Therapy in ICU, ED, Med Surg, Ortho, Neuro, and Cardiac settings
Certifications & Licenses
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required and must not expire within 30 days of start
- EPIC system experience required
- Other certifications that may be required or preferred (depending on unit):
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
- CPI or MAB (Crisis Prevention Institute or Management of Assaultive Behavior)
- NIH Stroke Certification
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) for Pediatric ER
- State license verification and NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start
Orientation
- Orientation held twice a month
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Current Driver’s License/State ID with correct name and address
- Residency Declaration Form if using compact license
- Background checks including 7-year history, OFAC, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and county/state searches
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by physician/NP/PA
- Fit testing for N95 mask within 1 year of start
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (full vaccine within 10 years; declinations allowed except for certain units)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 3 months of start
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (proof of vaccination or positive titer; no declinations)
- Hepatitis B (proof of vaccine or positive titer; declinations allowed with form)
- Varicella (proof of vaccine or positive titer; no declinations)
- Drug testing: 12-panel test required within 30 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 – Apr 30) or approved medical/religious exemption with facility-specific form
- Pass/fail testing (EKG/Medication) may be required depending on unit assignment
Competencies & Testing
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (passing score 80%+)
- Specialty-specific competency exam (passing score 80%+)
- HIPAA competency (updated annually, passing score 80%+)
- Color Blind Testing (only for OR and Cath Lab positions)
References & Employment History
- Two professional references from employment within the last 3 years required, including one supervisory reference
- Employment application with last 7 years of work history; gaps over 30 days must be explained
- Skills checklist must be updated annually
This position is ideal for experienced Occupational Therapists with acute care background and prior travel contract experience, ready to work in a fast-paced acute care hospital setting with a variety of adult patient populations.
