Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Pain Management / Interventional Radiology)

Location: Chicago, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) - Pain Management / Interventional Radiology
  • Shift: 5x8 hour shifts, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (No block scheduling)
  • Call Requirements:
    • On-call rotation assigned weekly, Monday-Friday, 12:00 AM - 8:00 AM
    • Weekends and holidays on-call coverage 24 hours
    • On-call rotated through all nurses
    • No holidays off except for on-call
    • Occasional weekend day shift (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM) required
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
  • Return to Office (RTO):
    • Maximum 5 days off with no more than 2 consecutive days
    • No holiday RTO
    • No RTO day before or after a holiday
    • No RTO on weekends
  • Floating: Mandatory float facility; nurses will float within scope to Radiology and Pain departments as needed
  • Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Additional Requirements: Staff required to wear lead protection

Experience & Certifications

  • Required Years of Experience: Minimum 2+ years as an RN
  • Certifications Required:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
    • NIH Stroke Scale Certification (required for Interventional Radiology and other specialties)
  • Licensing: Must have an active RN license (pending licenses not accepted)
  • Locals Accepted: Yes, locals preferred; must live within 75 miles of the facility

  • Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 90 days of start, updated annually
  • Competency exams including medication/pharmacology and color blindness testing (required within 12 months of start)

Unit is traveler friendly. Rad onc unit is in the basement of course so no interaction with other departments.

Cons

Cost of living. Parking is wild. Just rent close and walk/bus to work.
