Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (CVICU experience required)
- Location: Dothan, Alabama
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Patient Ratio: 1:4
- Shift: Every Other Week (EOW) required
- Time Off: Maximum 7 days allowed
Experience Requirements
- Minimum Specialty Experience: 2 years (CVICU experience required)
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required (1st time travelers OK)
Licensure & Certifications
- Active Alabama RN license or compact RN license required at time of application
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Certification (required for all RNs except PEDS, NICU & surgery; must be current and renewed annually)
- Other certifications as applicable (PALS, NRP, TNCC) based on specialty
Clinical Skills & Experience
- Experience with a variety of patient diagnoses including:
- Cardiac: post cardiac procedures, A-fib/flutter, stable AMIs
- Respiratory: Optiflow, V-60s (no ventilators)
- Diabetics: insulin drips
- Cardiac drips: Cardizem, Cardene, Amiodarone, Tridil, renal dose Dopamine, Heparin
- EPIC charting experience preferred
Work & Location Requirements
- Must live outside a 90-mile radius of the facility (no locals)
- Scrubs: Navy or navy bottoms with white top
- Orientation every other Monday; contracts end on Tuesday pay period
Compliance & Documentation Requirements (must be completed prior to start)
- Background checks including 7-year criminal check, SS trace, counties, nationwide, Facis Level 3, sex offender, education verification
- Employment eligibility verification (I-9, E-Verify)
- Drug testing: 10-panel within 90 days of start, updated annually (instant/rapid tests not accepted)
- Physical exam updated annually
- Fit mask test within 12 months prior to start (specific approved masks)
- Immunizations and titers: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Flu vaccination required for placements starting on or after 9/15; medical or religious exemptions accepted with mask requirement
- COVID vaccination voluntary; religious or medical exemptions accepted with proof
- References: Proof of 2 clinical references within last 12 months (up to 18 months if necessary)
- Skills checklist updated annually
- Completion of facility-specific modules before orientation
- Shirley’s Law APS Clearance Form and results (time sensitive, must be completed prior to orientation)
- State license verification and proof of renewal if license expires during assignment
- NURSYS verification required for all RNs
Additional Notes
- Candidate must bring a valid driver’s license matching RN license name on first day
- Photo for badge required within 72 hours of signing (passport-type photo, no nose rings)
- Compliance documents due 1 week prior to start
- Facility accepts religious or medical exemptions for COVID and flu vaccinations with proper documentation
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required
