Travel/Contract ICU Registered Nurse - Providence, Rhode Island

• Schedule: Block scheduling
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend
• Float Requirement: May float to Medical Unit

Required Experience

• Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years ICU experience
• Prior Travel Experience: Not accepted for first-time travelers (prior travel experience required)

Patient Population

• Adults and Geriatrics
• 14-bed ICU/CCU level of care unit
• Does not admit trauma or patients requiring neurosurgery/cardiac catheterization

Required Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)

Required Skills and Competencies

• Interpretation & management of dysrhythmias
• Multi-system organ failure management
• Pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring
• IV insulin protocols
• GI surgery care
• Chronic/acute renal failure management
• Accessing ports
• Arterial line management
• Blood product administration
• Central line care/management
• PICC line management
• Starting IVs
• Continuous IV sedation and procedural sedation administration
• Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
• CVA/acute stroke management
• Assist with BIPAP & CPAP management
• Assist with chest tube insertion/removal
• Care of ventilated patients including HFNC
• Interpretation of ABGs
• Suctioning (ETT, NT)
• Ventilator management
• Infection prevention and isolation precautions/PPE use
• Phlebotomy

Documentation and Medication Systems

• Medication system: Omnicell
• Documentation system: MediTech
• Communication system: SBAR

Required Licensure and Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Rhode Island
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
• Experience working with adult and geriatric patients
• One completed travel assignment
• ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring
• IV insulin protocols
• GI surgery care
• Accessing ports
• Arterial line management
• Blood product administration
• Central line care/management

Health and Compliance Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Tdap vaccine within 10 years
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months of start
• Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR), Hepatitis B, Varicella
• 9-panel drug screen after position acceptance
• Seasonal flu vaccine or approved declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
• Respiratory safety clearance (annual requirement)
• Background checks including fingerprinting (required for RI RNs)
• Professional references (2 for travel/allied/per diem acute care)

Additional Notes

• This unit does NOT accept first-time travel nurses.
• Fingerprinting must be completed either by mail or in person in Rhode Island prior to start.
• Candidates must complete facility-specific onboarding documents and agreements prior to start.
• COVID-19 booster exemptions (religious or medical) may be requested and require approval.

This position is ideal for experienced ICU RNs with prior travel contract experience seeking a night shift travel assignment in Rhode Island.
