Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Emergency Department (ED)
Location: Utica, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in a brand new, state-of-the-art Emergency Department facility.
- High patient volume; patient ratios may stretch to 1:5 or more during surge periods (no guaranteed 1:4 ratio).
Requirements
- License: Valid New York RN license.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in Emergency Department nursing.
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- TNCC or ATCN (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - must be current and in hand
- NIH Stroke Certification
- Epic electronic health record experience required
- Additional Training:
- Harassment Prevention Training (New York specific)
- Competencies:
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (minimum 80% score)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (required for ICU, PCU, ER, CT ICU, and 7th Floor M/S Unit; expires every 3 years)
- Color Blind Testing (required prior to start)
- Other competency exams as applicable
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start date.
- Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) within 1 year, updated annually.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (specific documentation required).
- Immunizations or proof of immunity for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or vaccine series)
- Varicella (chickenpox)
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 1 year of start (instant drug screen acceptable).
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (September 1 - March 31).
- Pneumonia vaccination or declination required.
Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
- Emergency contact form required prior to start.
- Background checks including 7-year history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, education verification, and Florida Education Audit Confirmation (for RN/LPN).
- Facility-specific documents including photo for badge, job description acknowledgment, welcome packet review and signature, Omnicell form, and pneumococcal declination if applicable.
- Completion of online learning modules prior to first shift.
- References:
- 2 professional references for travel, allied, or per diem acute care roles.
- 1 professional reference for per diem non-acute care roles.
