Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Oncology)
Location: Raleigh, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 9 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse - Oncology
- Shift: 8:00 AM – 6:30 PM
- Start Dates: November 17 or December 1
- Patient Age Group: Adults
- Weekend Requirement: Call one Saturday per month, 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM
- On-Call Requirement: Call one Saturday per month, 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM
- Floating: Yes
- Orientation: Bi-weekly
- Scrub Colors: Royal Blue or Galaxy Blue
- Flu Vaccine: Required, no exemptions or declinations accepted
- Local Candidates: Accepted within 75 miles
- First-Time Travelers: Accepted
Experience & Licensure
- Minimum Years of Experience: 2 years in specialty (Registered Nurse)
- Licensure: North Carolina or Compact License required and must be in hand
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Chemotherapy Certification (ONS/ONCC)
Additional Requirements & Information
- Must complete background checks including SSN trace, education verification, and various federal/state screenings within 90 days of start
- Physical exam required within 12 months of start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months of start
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel within 30 days of start (no instant tests)
- Immunizations required: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, Polio vaccine or attestation
- Seasonal flu vaccination required for new candidates starting during flu season (October through March)
- Must set up a Duke Guest Account prior to clearance for access to orientation and work systems
- Two professional references required from employment within the last 12 months (at least one supervisor)
- Skills checklist and employment application must be current and complete
- Competency exams and unit-specific training required during orientation
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training provided during orientation (valid for 2 years)
Notes for Candidates
- Candidates must be prepared for weekend call responsibilities
- Floating to other units may be required
- Orientation and training are mandatory and scheduled regularly
- Strict compliance with immunization and health documentation policies is enforced
- Local candidates within 75 miles are eligible and may receive a local rate adjustment
