Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Job Description

• MedSurg RN with every-other-week (EOW) schedule
• Float position with possible charge nurse duties as needed
• Option for 4x12 hour shifts
• ASAP start preferred
• Patient population: Adults and Geriatrics
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6
• Skills required: IV starts, Isolation Precautions, Wound Care/Wound Vac
• Level II Trauma experience preferred
• Prior travel experience preferred (not required)
• 30-minute lunch break required, no skipped meals
• Schedule is fixed once contract is confirmed; no changes or additional time off approved after confirmation
• Local candidates within 60-mile radius considered

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Alabama
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 1 year of Med Surg experience, including experience within the last year
• Experience working with Adult and Geriatric patients
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Skills in IV starts, Isolation Precautions, Wound Care, and Wound Vac

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked in last 7 years
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks with all aliases
• Official transcript, diploma, or third-party education verification
• National certification/verification as applicable
• Primary source verification of state license prior to start and upon expiration
• NURSYS verification prior to start
• Physical exam within 12 months of start
• Fit mask test within 12 months of start
• Immunizations and health documents including:

  • Tdap vaccination or declination within 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within past 12 months
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
  • Varicella vaccination, history, or positive titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination (mask required if declined)
• 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
• Skills checklist annually

Additional Notes

• No schedule adjustments or additional time off after contract confirmation
• Must comply with facility attendance policy prior to start
• Local candidates may receive a different rate (not disclosed here)

This position is ideal for experienced MedSurg RNs with strong clinical skills and flexibility to work a travel contract in Alabama. Prior travel experience is preferred but not mandatory.
