Job Opportunity: Speech-Language Pathologist - Home Health
Location: Sarasota, Florida
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide skilled home health therapy services covering multiple territories within the region.
- Patient population includes acute and chronic cases, adolescents through geriatrics.
- Typical caseload: 6-8 home visits per day (minimum 6 points per day, adjustable by manager).
- Weekend work: 1-2 weekends per contract.
- Responsibilities include dysphasia management, patient safety, aural rehabilitation, functional maintenance programs, in-service training, patient/family education, and use of evaluation tools such as BIMS, depression screening, and oral peripheral exams.
- Documentation and billing using electronic systems.
- Visits and hours are self-scheduled based on office needs.
- Must have home health experience; OASIS training preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Speech Language Pathologist license in Florida.
- Minimum 1 year of Speech Language Pathologist experience, including experience within the last year.
- Experience in a Home Health setting.
- BLS certification.
- CCC-SLP certification.
- Proficiency in dysphasia management.
- Experience with aural rehabilitation.
- Ability to implement functional maintenance programs.
- Skilled in the use of evaluation tools.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to wear any solid color scrubs.
- Use of laptop, MiFi for internet access, and portable printers provided.
- Completion of required background checks and education verifications.
- Physical exam within 6 months of start.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 10 weeks of start.
- Required immunizations or titers: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella.
- Standard 9-panel drug test within 30 days of start.
- Annual TB questionnaire completion.
- Respirator medical clearance if applicable.
- Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start.
- Submission of a professional photo for badge.
- Current personal or auto insurance coverage.
Compliance & Documentation
- Background checks including criminal, education verification, and fingerprinting per state requirements.
- Primary source verification of state license.
- References: 2 professional references from the past 2 years.
- Employment application and skills checklist required.
- Completion of medication/pharmacology competency exams as applicable.
- Color blindness test required prior to start.
- Stroke education CEUs and related certifications may be required depending on assignment specifics.

- Candidates must be flexible to cover multiple geographic areas within the home health territory.
- Visits and schedules are self-managed but must meet minimum productivity points.
- Mask wearing and vaccination policies are strictly enforced.
- Candidates should be prepared to complete all required training modules before starting the assignment.
