Job Opportunity: Echo Tech / Cardiac Sonographer

Location: Whittier, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day (7:30 AM - 3:30 PM) or Evening (2:00 PM - 10:00 PM), 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (40 hours/week)
Weekend Requirement: 1-2 months with 3 call shifts per month

Job Description

• Echo Tech with both cardiac and vascular experience (mandatory).
• Variable start times available: 7:30 AM, 8:00 AM, 9:00 AM, or 2:00 PM.
• Work includes procedures on patients in ICU and ED settings.
• Skills required include:

  • Adult Acute Care
  • 2-D Echo, Bubble Study, Color Doppler, M-Mode
  • Imaging with Contrast Agents
  • Portable Studies
  • Right Ventricular Inflow and Outflow Tract imaging
  • Routine Diastology, LV Strain/LV Volume, Simpson’s Rule
  • Use of Siemens equipment
  • Isolation Precautions
  • Obtaining 12 lead EKG/ECG
• Additional required vascular skills:

  • Carotid Doppler studies
  • Duplex scanning
  • Lower Extremity Venous and Peripheral Vascular Resistance
  • Transcranial Doppler
  • Upper Extremity Arterial and Venous studies
• Neonatal heart imaging is preferred but not required.

Required Certifications

• ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography)
• CCI RCS (Cardiovascular Credentialing International Registered Cardiac Sonographer)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred but not explicitly required for this role

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Cardiac Sonographer.
• Recent Cardiac Sonographer experience within the last year.
• Experience as a Vascular Sonographer.
• Current ARDMS, CCI, or RCS certification.

Competency and Testing Requirements

• Skills checklist updated annually.
• Pass/fail testing for Dysrhythmia/EKG may be required depending on unit.
• Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
• Facility-specific orientation and training modules must be completed prior to start.

Additional Information

• Candidates must complete required facility-specific documents and forms prior to start, including emergency contact form and photo for badge.
• Candidates may be required to complete Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB), Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), or Violence Intervention Program (VIP) training depending on unit assignment.
• Candidates must comply with all facility-specific safety and infection control protocols.

This position is ideal for experienced Echo Techs with strong cardiac and vascular sonography skills seeking a travel contract in California with a reputable healthcare facility.
