Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Tech
Location: Chicago, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Job Description
- On-call availability required:
- Monday to Thursday: 5:30 PM to 7:00 AM next day
- Weekend call: 5:30 PM Friday to 7:00 AM Monday
- Weekend work required
- Must have experience working in the Cath Lab, including scrubbing in on Cath Lab procedures
- STEMI call requires tech to be in the lab, dressed, and ready within 30 minutes of STEMI page
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Cath Lab Technologist, with experience within the last year
- Experience scrubbing in on Cath Lab procedures
- Certification: ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certifications
- Demonstrated Cath Lab experience
Licensure
- Must hold a valid Radiology Tech license appropriate for Illinois
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Complete and maintain all required employment and compliance documentation, including:
- I9 verification
- Valid Driver’s License or Government Photo ID (preferred)
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, education verification, and federal/state screenings
- State-specific fingerprinting and Healthcare Worker Registry eligibility for Illinois
- Required health documents:
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months, updated annually
- Immunizations and/or titers for Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
- Drug screening (10-panel) within 30 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
- COVID vaccination series or approved declination
Additional Requirements
- Passing score on competency exam related to Cath Lab Tech duties
- Color blindness test (passing score required)
- Completion of facility-specific training modules and policy acknowledgements prior to start
- OSHA Respiratory Safety clearance if fit test is failed
- Sexual harassment training (annual requirement)
- Compliance with facility-specific confidentiality, information security, and cannabis acknowledgment forms
- Accommodation request process available for required vaccinations or fit test failures for medical/religious reasons
Experience
- Must have Cath Lab experience (minimum 1 year, with recent experience within the last year)
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
On-Call and Scheduling Details
- Call shifts require readiness to respond quickly (within 30 minutes for STEMI calls)
