Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - PCU
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Schedule & Hours
- 12-hour shifts, approximately 36 hours per week
- Workdays primarily, including some weekends and rotating holidays
- Rotating shifts, most likely day shifts
- On-call required
- Patient ratio approximately 1:3
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing experience
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) and BCLS (Basic Life Support) certifications required
- IV start proficiency
- Telemetry monitoring experience
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system required
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred (not mandatory)
- Must be willing to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity
Required Qualifications & Certifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
- Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- IV start proficiency
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Additional Requirements
- Two professional references required; at least one must be from a manager or formal leadership role
- Employment application and skills checklist required
- Must complete fingerprinting with Ohio BCI & FBI using specific codes; fingerprinting must be current within 1 year of start
- Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending at start
- Must complete medication/pharmacology competency exam prior to start
- Unit-specific competency exams required
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgment required annually
Notes
- Facility requires strict adherence to fingerprinting and background check protocols, including review of any criminal history hits
- Candidates must be graduates of accredited nursing programs; international education requires additional approval
- Floating to other units of similar or lower acuity is expected
- Prior travel experience is preferred but not mandatory
This position offers an opportunity to work in a progressive care setting with a supportive team and a structured schedule. Candidates must meet all licensure, certification, and health requirements to qualify.
