Job Opportunity: Physical Therapist - Home Health

Location: Largo, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)

Job Description

• Provide physical therapy services during home visits.
• Average patient load: 5-6 patients per day.
• Types of cases: Start of Care and Follow Ups.
• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (most assignments).
• Weekend rotation: None.
• On-call: No.
• Must be willing to travel up to 75 miles from home clinic; average travel about 200 miles per week.
• Productivity expectations: Approximately 30 points per week, with 5-10 patients per day.
• EMR systems used: Pointcare, HCHB.
• Local candidates accepted.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Physical Therapist license in Maryland.
• Minimum of 1 year of recent Physical Therapist experience within the last year.
• Experience working with adult patients.
• Experience in a Home Health setting.
• BLS certification.

Additional Requirements & Notes

• Must complete various background checks and verifications including:

  • Standard 7-year background check.
  • Drug screening (10-panel).
  • Education verification.
  • State-specific background and registry checks as applicable.
• Health documents required prior to start:

  • Physical exam within 12 months.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months.
  • Proof of immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella.
  • Flu vaccination or documented declination.
  • COVID vaccination or documented declination.
• Must review and sign compliance, confidentiality, privacy, and policy documents prior to start.
• Must have personal or auto insurance policy under candidate's name or be listed as a driver.
• References: Two professional references required.
• Work history verification: At least two most recent employers or last 7 years.

Travel & Work Environment

• Home health setting with patient visits in the community.
• No guaranteed hours; if patient census is low, may be floated to nearby clinics.
• Schedule may vary slightly by location; some positions may have alternate shift patterns (e.g., 4x10 shifts).
• Weekend and on-call requirements vary by location; discuss during interview.

This position is ideal for experienced Physical Therapists with recent home health experience who are comfortable traveling within the assigned territory and managing a moderate patient load in a home care setting.
