Physical Therapist - Outpatient (Travel/Contract)

Location: Fort Worth, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Provide and execute physical therapy plans of care for patients with impairments, functional limitations, disabilities, or changes in physical function and health status due to injury, disease, or other causes.


Work Schedule

  • Monday to Friday
  • Day shift, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
  • 40 hours per week

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Physical Therapist license in Texas
  • Minimum 1 year of Physical Therapist experience within the last year

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Physical Therapist

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and implement physical therapy plans of care
  • Document patient care and charges accurately
  • Provide leadership and direction to Physical Therapist Assistants, support staff, and students
  • Participate in professional development and continuing education to maintain licensure compliance
  • Engage in departmental operational planning and goal-setting meetings
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Strong knowledge of physical therapy principles and healthcare compliance regulations
  • Ability to provide age-, culture-, and sex-appropriate care
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with computers and related software
  • Deliver high-quality customer service with professionalism
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work productively under stressful conditions

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged standing, sitting, walking, reading, writing, talking, and computer use
  • Hearing and clear speaking ability for verbal communication
  • Visual acuity for reading computer screens and printed materials
  • Manual dexterity for palpation, typing, writing, and handling objects
  • Physical flexibility for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling, standing, reaching, and lifting/moving objects up to approximately 25 lbs (with assistance if needed)
  • Ability to meet physical demands with or without reasonable accommodations

Work Environment

  • Indoor work setting with possible schedule changes, variable hours, overtime, and occasional weekend shifts on short notice
  • Local travel between multiple sites may be required
  • Exposure to temperature changes, hazardous fumes, odors, and infectious agents (e.g., HIV, Hepatitis B, TB)
  • Noisy environment with frequent interruptions and distractions
  • Work may involve stressful pressures and deadlines
  • Uniform and accessory restrictions may apply

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license or state ID)
  • Background check including SS trace, county searches, nationwide, and sex offender registry
  • Education verification of initial and most recent related degrees
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start date
  • Negative TB test (TSpot or QGold) within 1 year; chest x-ray if applicable
  • Immunizations or positive titers for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or vaccine series)
    • Varicella (titer, vaccine, or history of disease)
  • TDAP vaccination required (exemptions require facility-specific approval)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant tests not accepted)
  • Annual TB questionnaire
  • Two professional references verified within one year of start
  • Skills checklist updated annually and valid at start date

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must complete facility-specific onboarding documents electronically prior to start
  • Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required year-round; exemptions must be submitted at least one week before start date
  • COVID vaccination is highly encouraged but not mandatory
  • Orientation includes pass/fail testing for medication calculation and EKG (for applicable roles)
