Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: New Orleans, Louisiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Shift: Day shift, 4 days per week, 10 hours per day (6:30 AM – 4:00 PM)
  • Weekend Requirement: Yes
  • On Call Requirement: Rotating weekends and one to three late days per schedule
  • Holiday Requirement: Yes
  • Float Requirement: May float to other surgical specialties

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Louisiana
  • Minimum 2 years of OR Circulate experience, with at least some experience within the last year
  • Completion of at least one travel assignment
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience in Plastic Surgery
  • Experience in Orthopedic Surgery

Additional Requirements

  • Background Check: Must be completed within 6 months prior to start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years, including Social Security trace, nationwide and county checks, sex offender registry, federal databases, and FACIS Level 3. Annual updates required.
  • Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (includes marijuana, cocaine, amphetamines, benzodiazepines, opiates, and others).
  • Immunizations and Health Documentation:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declinations accepted with proper documentation)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 3 months of start (two-step skin test or equivalent)
    • Annual TB questionnaire required
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR): Proof of 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters required if titer low
    • Varicella: Proof of 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters required if titer low
    • Hepatitis B: Series, titer, or declination signed within 12 months of start
    • Seasonal Flu Vaccination: Required October 1 – March 31; exemptions and declinations accepted with proper documentation
  • Competency Exams: Medication/Pharmacology, Dysrhythmia/EKG, and Core Parts I, II, and III required annually with minimum 80% score
  • Skills Checklist: Must be current within 12 months and updated annually
  • Employee Appearance Policy: Must be reviewed prior to start
  • Employment Application: Must include 7 years of work history with no gaps over 30 days

Notes

  • No first-time travelers accepted for this position
  • Prior travel experience is required (implied by "No First Time Travelers")
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification may be required depending on unit assignment (check unit-specific requirements)
  • Floating to other surgical specialties may be required
