Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - PICU

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Must have approximately 2 years of experience preferred.
  • Floating between units is required, including CTICU, NICU, pulmonary, and general/ED areas.
  • Requires 2 supervisory or manager references (charge nurses count as only one reference).
  • Ohio State license required for Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRTs).
  • Must be able to float to multiple units as specified.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Pediatric Respiratory Therapist license in Ohio
  • Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Respiratory Therapist experience, including within the last year
  • Minimum 2 years of RRT PICU (pediatric intensive care unit) experience
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • NBRC certification

Compliance and Background Requirements

  • Criminal background check within 30 days of start, including 7-year county search and education verification.
  • Government-issued photo ID required within 24-48 hours of contract signing.
  • Fingerprinting (OH BCI/FBI) required within 60 days of start and must be updated for each new contract.
  • Education verification through National Student Clearinghouse or equivalent.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
  • Sex offender and state-specific registry searches required.
  • Drug screening (9-panel) within 60 days prior to start.
  • Code of Conduct and Confidentiality Agreement must be reviewed and signed prior to start.
  • Affiliating Health Record and Infection Control Policy acknowledgment required.
  • Fit testing for N95 masks required within 1 year of start and updated annually.
  • TB testing or IGRA within 12 months required; additional documentation if positive.
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Flu vaccine required during flu season (Oct 31 - May 31), with medical/religious exemptions reviewed
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or declination
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunization or titers with boosters as needed

Additional Information

  • Floating between multiple critical care units is mandatory.
  • Legal name on all documents must match license and certifications exactly.
  • Local Ohio driver's license holders within 60 miles of the facility may be considered local and not eligible for travel assignment.
  • Candidates must complete all required documentation and compliance items within specified timeframes to maintain eligibility.
