Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract
Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Work primarily in the Addictions Medicine department within a correctional/detention center setting.
- Responsibilities include assessments and treatment of patients undergoing substance withdrawal, Suboxone inductions, detox medication administration, and Methadone medication pass.
- Patient population includes those with opioid use disorder (OUD), alcohol use disorder (ETOH), and polysubstance use.
- Charting system: Cerner.
- Scrub color: Black.
- Guaranteed 36 hours per week with possible call-offs up to 3 times during the 13-week assignment.
- Weekend shifts required every other weekend.
- No local candidates accepted within a 100-mile radius.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico.
- Minimum 1 year of correctional nursing experience, with correctional experience within the last year required.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Experience in Addiction Medicine.
Additional Requirements & Information
- Must be able to pass facility background check and fingerprinting.
- Orientation includes MOAB certification course if not already certified.
- OT rules: Overtime after 48 hours worked.
- New contracts and extensions must be at least 10 weeks.
- A 6-month break is required after 4 consecutive assignments or 1 year of work, whichever comes first.
- No public transportation nearby; candidates must have reliable transportation.
- Candidates must complete various competency exams including medication and dysrhythmia/EKG competency exams.
- Two professional references within the last three years required.
- Complete employment application with at least 3 years of work history verification required.

- Facility type: Detention Center.
- Patient population primarily involves behavioral health and substance use disorders.
- Black scrubs required.
- Parking available at no cost.
Scheduling
- 48-hour shifts only.
- Weekend shifts every other weekend.
- Block scheduling may be accommodated but not guaranteed.
Summary
This travel nursing opportunity is ideal for RNs with at least 1 year of experience, preferably with some background in behavioral health or addictions medicine, who are comfortable working in a correctional/detention center environment. Candidates must be able to meet strict certification, background, and health requirements, and be willing to work 48-hour shifts with weekend coverage every other week. Prior travel experience is not required but preferred.
