Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical Oncology
Location: Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Prior travel experience is required.
- Chemotherapy certification is preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana.
- Minimum of 1 year of oncology nursing experience, with oncology experience within the last year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Prior travel nursing experience.
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Copy of valid photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
- Criminal background check (updated if no assignment within last 90 days).
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually.
- Annual respirator fit testing (Fit Mask) with mask size documented.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, with annual renewal.
- TB questionnaire required annually.
- 12-panel drug screen within 90 days prior to start.
- Influenza and COVID-19 vaccination exemption forms available for medical or religious reasons.
- Healthstream training and system access/confidentiality agreements to be completed at orientation.
- Two professional references required.
Additional Information
- Candidates must be prepared to complete assigned Healthstream courses and demonstrate competency in glucose testing if applicable.
- Flu vaccinations are not mandatory for employment but vaccine or declination documentation should be maintained.
- Some certifications and requirements may vary by unit or specialty area; verify during onboarding.
This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with oncology and medical-surgical skills who have prior travel experience and appropriate certifications.
