Job Description

• Start Date: ASAP
• Unit Type: MedSurg/IMC hybrid (previously Med Surg, recently re-classified to IMC-level)
• Work Hours: 36 or 48 hours per week, 12-night shifts from 1900 to 0730, every other weekend and holiday.
• Experience Required:

  • 2 years of experience
  • Level II trauma experience
  • Experience with cardiac patient population/PCU/IMC type units

Required Certifications

• BLS: Basic Life Support
• ACLS: Advanced Cardiac Life Support
• PALS: Pediatric Advanced Life Support (if applicable)
• NRP: Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure (if applicable)
• TNCC: Trauma Nursing Core Course (if applicable)
• ENPC: Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (if applicable)
• Tech Cert Verification: National (required within 30 days of start)
• State License Verification: Wisconsin CNA license required

Additional Requirements

• Background Check: Must include state background checks for every state resided in the last 3 years, FACIS level III, and National Sex Offender Registry.
• References: Two references required, one must be from a supervisor level or higher from a job worked within the last year.
• Employment Application: Must include 7 years of employment history with explanations for gaps.
• Health Documents:

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • TB test or chest x-ray
  • Vaccination records (including flu, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella)
  • Drug testing within 90 days prior to start

Competencies

• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam: Must be completed and passed annually.
• Unit Specific Competency Exam: Required within 12 months of start.

Facility Specific Documents

• Photo for Badge: Required (chest up against a solid background).
• Flu Vaccine Documentation: Required during flu season.
• COVID-19 Vaccine Declination Form: Required if declining the vaccine.

Skills Checklist

• Unit Specific Skills Checklist: Required annually.

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Wisconsin
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry experience, including experience within the last year
• Experience working with Level 2 Trauma patients and trauma experience
• Intermediate Care experience
• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
