Job Summary
- Provide safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care in a labor and delivery setting.
- Accountable for care of a group of patients.
- Supervise licensed and non-licensed staff.
- Apply evidence-based practice and participate in quality improvement and regulatory compliance.
- Mentor and precept staff.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and patients/families.
- Promote a safe, clean, and secure environment.
- Participate in unit goal development and performance improvement activities.
Responsibilities
- Perform patient assessments and reassessments; make sound independent decisions.
- Develop, implement, and revise individualized plans of care.
- Monitor and document patient responses to clinical interventions.
- Provide education tailored to patient and family needs during stay and at discharge.
- Delegate tasks appropriately and encourage teamwork.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and participate in practice changes.
- Address cultural and ethnic considerations in patient care.
- Prioritize tasks for patients with complex problems.
- Anticipate discharge needs and support patient/family advocacy.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
- Acute Care nursing experience
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and EFM
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience with Epic electronic medical records system
Education
- Nursing Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ASN).
Shift Details
- Day shift: 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
- 36 hours per week, every other weekend
