Job Opportunity: IMC - Wound and Ostomy RN

Shift and Hours

  • Days
  • 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week
  • Occasionally requires holiday and/or weekend hours
  • Flexible hours to support patient-centered care

Job Summary

  • Provide direct and indirect patient care in inpatient care areas focused on wound and ostomy nursing.
  • Perform comprehensive nursing assessments, including history taking, observation, and physical examination.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized nursing care plans.
  • Administer and evaluate nursing care, including complex wound and ostomy treatments.
  • Educate patients and families on disease processes, risk factors, wound/ostomy care, and prevention of complications.
  • Assist with dressing changes, Vacuum Assisted Closure (VAC) devices, pressure injury management, and other wound/skin care interventions.
  • Participate in quality improvement and clinician education activities related to wound and skin care.
  • Communicate patient progress effectively with healthcare team members.
  • Provide care that is ethical, culturally sensitive, and age-appropriate.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Minimum of 2 years of wound care experience, including experience within the last year

Physical Demands

  • Standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing, bending
  • May involve some repetitive motions
  • Reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities without compromising patient care

Additional Information

  • Must have a wound care certificate
  • Position involves working with patients who have actual or potential wound/ostomy problems
  • Ethical decision-making and sensitivity to cultural, spiritual, and individual patient/family values are essential
