Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical/Surgical - Travel

Location: Summit, New Jersey
Contract Length: 8 weeks
Shift: PM (7 PM - 7 AM)
Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week

Job Description

• Perform thorough, systematic, and accurate patient assessments across all age groups (Pediatric to Geriatric).
• Deliver competent and appropriate nursing care to medical/surgical patients, including knowledge and use of emergency equipment and procedures.
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation of nursing processes, patient progress, and education in compliance with documentation guidelines.
• Demonstrate professional responsibility, knowledge of policies and procedures, and identify areas for clinical and professional growth.
• Promote patient and family-centered care by responding professionally and courteously to patients, families, and coworkers while maintaining confidentiality according to HIPAA guidelines.
• Follow National Patient Safety Goals, including Universal Protocol and patient identification using two identifiers. Use safe transfer techniques and proper body mechanics.
• Understand conditions, procedures, and equipment related to surgical patients; individualize care based on procedure and anesthesia type.
• Take responsibility and accountability for prioritizing and directing patient care based on patient needs and condition changes.
• Provide pre-operative and postoperative patient education and assessment, involving patients and families actively.
• Support timely completion and evaluation of Pre Admission Testing (PAT) orders for appropriateness based on surgery, patient age, and health status.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in New Jersey
• Minimum 1 year of medical-surgical nursing experience within the last year
• BLS certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Physical Requirements

• As defined by Occupational Safety/OMS standards.

This position is a travel nursing role requiring flexibility and adaptability to a fast-paced medical/surgical environment during night shifts.
