Work Schedule

• Day shift, 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week
• May require working nights and/or weekends occasionally
• May require overtime, floating to other departments within competency, and on-call availability during scheduled shifts

Job Summary

• Assemble, clean, disinfect, sterilize, and store procedure and surgical trays and equipment
• Assemble, distribute, and deliver disposable and durable medical equipment, case carts, and supplies to Operating Room, Nursing Units, and Ancillary Departments
• Operate and monitor sterilization equipment
• Disassemble carts and follow Universal Precautions for decontamination
• Sterilize, disinfect, package, and maintain records for instruments and supplies
• Transport sterilized items to appropriate locations
• Recheck instruments for cleanliness and functionality; check power equipment
• Track instruments using labeling, engraving, and documentation of missing items or implants
• Communicate inventory status and order updates with Central Processing staff and Surgery Charge Nurse
• Respond to emergency situations ensuring timely supply delivery for emergency, trauma, and add-on cases
• Utilize technology and applications for accurate record keeping in compliance with regulations
• Provide on-the-job training to newly hired associates

Required Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician, with experience within the last year
