Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Virginia
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Pediatric Hematology / Oncology (1.5 years of experience)
- Pediatric Hematology / Oncology experience within the last year
- Experience in an Acute Care setting
- APHON Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Provider Status
- PALS
- BLS
Role Details
- Inpatient HemOnc role
- 16-bed unit
- Typical patient ratio is 3:1; may fluctuate to 4:1 when med/surg patients are on the unit
- Responsibilities include administering chemotherapy, blood components, fluid/electrolyte replacements, and oncology treatments
- Also responsible for assessing patient conditions, managing side effects, and providing emotional support to patients and families
- The role requires strong prioritization skills in a fast-paced setting
- Charge RN and team lead RN are available without patient assignments to assist with double checks, high-alert drugs, procedures, and transporting patients
