Job Description
- Operate MRI equipment to produce high-quality images for Radiologist interpretation.
- Provide patient care including positioning, procedure information, and executing imaging protocols.
- Navigate EMR/PACS systems (Epic and McKesson PACS).
- Work with GE Signa Artist (1.5T) and GE Signa Architect (3T) MRI scanners.
- Scan a wide variety of patients including routine, critical, under sedation, and anesthesia.
- Perform numerous protocols in Neuro, Body, and MSK imaging.
- Follow MRI safety guidelines and start IVs as needed.
- Work within a Level 1 trauma center scanning both inpatients and outpatients, including ED patients.
- May work with MRI Tech assistants (Registered Radiology Assistants) on shift.
Schedule & Work Environment
- Shifts: 8-hour shifts with start times:
- 1st shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
- 2nd shift: 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM
- 3rd shift: 10:00 PM – 6:30 AM
- Weekend requirement: 1 weekend per month.
- Possible holiday work.
- No call or standby required.
- Does not float outside the MRI department but covers outpatients, inpatients, and ED patients within the unit.
- Dress code: Standard solid-colored scrubs (not provided), tattoos must be covered.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of MRI experience (highest required years of experience).
- Certifications:
- ARRT or ARMRIT certification in MRI.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- Knowledge of operating GE MRI scanners (1.5T and 3T).
- Familiarity with MRI safety guidelines and standard acquisition sequences.
- Ability to start IVs.
- Active Illinois license or proof of application initiation for licensure.
Additional Information
- Orientation: Approximately 1 week, depending on familiarity with GE scanners.
- Facility scans a broad patient demographic including critical cases and those with implants (pacemakers, stimulators, aneurysm clips).
- Local placements accepted within a 50-mile radius.
- No prior travel experience required.
This position is ideal for MRI Technologists with at least 1 year of experience, certified in MRI and BLS, comfortable working various shifts including nights and weekends, and skilled in operating GE MRI equipment in a trauma center setting.
