Experience: Minimum 2 years of Telemetry nursing experience
Licenses/Certifications:
- Active California nursing license
- BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications required
Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret all cardiac rhythms
- Experience with Phillips telemetry equipment
- Familiarity with CPAP or BiPAP ventilation (per RT)

Unit Size: 31 beds (11 private, 10 semi-private)
Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4
EMR System: Cerner
Support Staff:
- Charge Nurse (Shift Manager & Resource Nurse)
- Nurse Aides (2 on days, 1 on nights)
Shift Details:
- 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
- Block scheduling allowed but not guaranteed
Weekend Requirement: 4 shifts per 4-week schedule
- Night weekends: Friday/Saturday
- Day weekends: Saturday/Sunday
Holiday Requirement: Participate in permanent staff holiday rotation (1 major and 1 minor holiday)
Scrub Color: Navy blue scrubs required; scrub jackets must be navy; undershirts must be navy, white, or black

Call Requirements: Must report within 30 minutes if placed on standby/call
Floating: Travelers are first to float; may float between MedSurg units, ICU tele, or ER holds
Orientation: 1-2 shifts with a preceptor, floor-specific
Patient Types:
- Post pacemaker, hemodialysis, new onset atrial fibrillation or rapid ventricular response
- Stepdown from ICU, surgical, urology (cystoscopy), oncology (cardiac monitoring), some ortho, correctional (federal) patients
- High acuity patients including strokes, traumatic brain injury, sepsis, patients with bedsores, PEG tubes
- Approximately one-third of patients come from nursing homes
Hospital Support:
- Hospitalist or Intensivist on call after hours
- Respiratory Therapy available 24/7
- Pharmacy available 24/7 with Omnicell system
- No IV team
